Fishing Report: Middle Bay White Perch on Jetties
Dave Yost, StriperDave.com

Location: Western Shore, Chesapeake Bay, Rock Jetty
Fish Target: White Perch, Rockfish, Bluefish

I caught this skinny 12" white perch today on a local jettie. I was using 1/4 ounce black/silver jig tipped with fish bites.

The best technique of the day required casting approximately 10' from the rock jettie and letting the jig hit bottom. After allowing the jig to settle I would employ a slow retrieve from the bottom.

Fish typically were taking the bait at roughly the half way point on the retrieve and tight to the rock jetty. It was important to cast just far enough away from the rocks so as not to snag on the retrieve.

This technique proved to be the most productive of the day.  Using fishbites to tip the jig gave it scent so the fish would not second guess and just hit.  It is the first time I have tried accenting my jigs with fishbites.  I will most definitely turn to this technique again and would highly recommend you give it a try as well.
