The following Maryland trout stream fishing report came in earlier today from my buddy Mike Nastick. Mike is an avid trout fisherman and always seems to be able to find the fish! What a great report - thanks for sharing, Mike! We are looking forward to more trout reports as the spring season continues.
Fishing at Great Seneca Creek in Montgomery County was quite productive on Saturday April 3. The first fish was a 17 inch Rainbow weighing close to 2lbs, shown in the net. According to the DNR website they are stocking the local rivers with large trout between 6 and 12 lbs for breeding and to raise the interest of fishing in the area.
Sunday was very productive too on the Patuxent River at Howard Chapel Rd in Montgomery County, which is where the second fish came from. They just stocked this river on April 1st which made for a great day of fishing, my Dad and I each caught 5 and missed a handful of others. My Dad had a 26 incher that snapped his line while leaping out of the water trying to fight off the hook. We only fish artificial and our bait of choice is the always productive Trout Magnet.
Trout season is in full swing after a slight delay in stocking due to the tremendous amount of snow in the Montgomery County area but they will soon have all waters stocked and ready for fishing here soon.
